When I first started writing emails. Peng Joon taught me one thing…
“Don't be afraid to go against the grain."
Alas, I've pushed back against the lingo of corporatespeak, of subject lines that scream sales talk, of neatly designed rich HTML templates that are too perfect to be interesting…
I've thrown these habits away and traded them for stories.
Stories—as cliche must it be to proclaim in the age of self-aware marketing—that connect with what someone is going through.
Stories that will either make you laugh from corny dad jokes or blush from dirty green ones.
Stories that will force either an ‘awwww' or 'ohhhhh' sound out of your mouth.
Stories that hit like a gut punch because, above all, they feel human.
As Smobble's Content Lead for 2 years, I've thought outside the inbox, cranking out story-driven emails that converted so many leads, generated so much revenue, and touched a thousand hearts.
Here I am, sharing them with you—in the hopes of getting you to know me better.
(And for you to hire me 'cause these writing skills would be such a waste if brands don't get to work with me)
